Victor update: The Fileplanet links are acting a little squirelly, but the free Ubisoft games are available on other sites, as well.
Here they are on gamespot.com. You don't need a paid account, but you do need to create a free account and log in:

Got your attention?
As I said in my game column running this week, Ubisoft and Electronic Arts recently made available for free download four of their classic PC titles.
Here are the three ad-supported Ubi games:

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
And the totally free EA game:

Command & Conquer (the original Windows 95 game)
Have fun!

It would have been nice to know that you can't download the games unless you have a PAID subscription to FilePlanet.com!!!
So the games really aren't free per se.
VICTOR COMMENT: Actually, while clicking on the links takes you to a page to sign up for a paid account, you can just sign up for a free account and download the games.
At least, you could.
Since I posted the story, it seems the games have disappeared from the site entirely. I'll poke around some more on the site and see if I can find links that still work.
