On the UK site, The Sunday Post, the manager of ELSPA's (the Entertainment & Leisure Software Publishers Association) Intellectual Property Crime Unit , John Hiller, is quoted saying that 90% of U.S Nintendo DS gamers download their games illegally.
Are you serious, John? I don't even think 9% of U.S. DS owners would know how to do that. I don't think 90% of U.S. DS owners are over the age of 8.... but I don't have those facts.
If it wasn't for an evil friend of mine, I wouldn't even know how to do that (oh, and I NEVER have).

I don't know about American gamers, but I have a lot of students who come over from Korea. We're talking 12 year olds here. I would estimate that 70% of my Korean students have downloaded illegal copies of games.
Doug note: I'm I being totally naive with this? Are there REALLY that many people here playing pirated games?
The pirating of games has always been there, and both the PSP and DS can be modded pretty easily (The DS is especially easy while the PSP takes some work.)
It's really not that hard to find pirated games for the DS. Actually the DS is very easy mod, and it does not require you to open up the DS at all, so warranty is intact.
I buy my games, but it's easier to get it all dumped into one memory card than to carry like 10 of them.
