'Forza Motorsport 3' getting amazing reviews (or "hey, I buy my own games")

Posted by Doug

Like all of you guys, I have to buy my own games. Lately, it's becoming more and more difficult to do that because I have to choose between having fun and paying my mortgage.

So, I pay more and more attention to sites like MetaCritic.com. It's cool to see what a broad-range of people think about a certain title, rather than one or two individuals. It helps me make better decisions about what to buy.

Seriously, I don't care if the game publishers hate the site (that's another story and post for another time), they don't send me review copies, anyway (shameless jab at the you-know-whos).

So what's got my attention this week? It's the amazingly early reviews for 'Forza Motorsport 3' for the Xbox 360. It's aggregate review score is 93 out of 100! I think anything over a 70 is worth checking out; but, GOOD LORD, that's a lot of good reviews.

I see a couple of 100's and nearly twenty 90(+) scores. WIRED.com is about the only stick-in-mud in the reviews list; and to give them credit, they probably weren't, it's just how MetaCritic has converting a review of "dots" into a number.

'Forza 3' moves to the top of my "must-buy" list. Now where are the 'Brutal Legend' reviews?

Comments

I've played Forza 1 & 2, but they were not as great to GT. However, this looks like a very good competitor as it has modes for every type of racing gamer. Amateur or a true sim enthusiast. Will definitely check it out.

Wireless N adapter for Xbox 360 coming in November

Posted by Doug

Looks like the Xbox 360 will be getting faster Wi-Fi speeds with the introduction of a new Wireless N adapter this November.

IGN.com says the adapter will be the same price as the current Wi-Fi adapter ($99).
Of course, this requires that your Wi-Fi network is up to speed. So if you don't have an 802.11n router, you're gonna have to invest in that too.

The adapter is B and G compatible; but I'm curious if non-N network devices will slow the connection? I have a PS3, Wii, DVR, iPhone, laptop all on my network, and I'm pretty sure none of them are N-compliant.
